Automated Phone Fun
For this project we were to make something that had interactivity for the sake of having interactivity. I decided to work in the medium of the automated phone operator using VXML. This is not your usual automated voice operator. It has its own character and personality. It also happens to be named Laurie (this is actually the name of the voice in the programming language). Basically the conversation can end in three branches: one is a conversation between Laurie and Reed(the name of the male voice in the code), a number exercise to get over a 'virus'(of the usual and computer kind), and listening to the system voice's favorite 'on hold' song. Also, when telling the system what department you want to go to it will prompt you three times by saying things like 'I couldn't understand you.' It does understand you but this was to saterize the somewhat shaky nature of voice recognition software. Once you get by the third time, however, it will work normally.
