Time Train
On this project I helped with 3D modeling, in Maya, and some virtools support. The "Time Train" basically takes time in general, or rather specific time periods, the idea of hobbies and time in the sense of the lifetime of a human being together to extract some sort of meaningful and interesting animation from it. Not quite game, yet not quite movie either. Our project requires some interaction, but there is no real objective. It is more of a conceptual study of how times have changed.
"Time Train" shows the changes of hobbies throughout the decades starting in the mid 1900s and going towards modern time. IDeally, it follows the life of a man, say Howard. We assume Howard is born slightly before the 1950s so we can see some of the kids hobbies in the 1950s and 1960s. Then, as he gets older, his hobbies change as do the hobbies in general of the era. Then, we are able to compare and contrast hobbies of kids (when Howard has kids) with the hobbies he had when he was a kid himself. To make the jump from age to age one simply must find the particular item in the era that changed his life the greatest.
Our objective was to have fun at the same time, so some of the models that we came up with are just plain silly sometimes. It makes (Howard's) life a little more intersting.
